PED Decleration

The Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 2014/68/EU (formerly97/23/EC) of the EU sets out the standards for the design and fabrication of pressure equipment ("pressure equipment" means steam boilers, pressure vessels, piping, safety valves and other components and assemblies subject to pressure loading) generally over one litre in volume and having a maximum pressure more than 0.5 bar gauge. It also sets the administrative procedures requirements for the "conformity assessment" of pressure equipment, for the free placing on the European market without local legislative barriers. It has been mandatory throughout the EU since 30 May 2002, with 2014 revision fully effective as of 19 July 2016.

This is enacted in the UK as the Pressure Equipment Regulations (PER). The set out standards and regulations regarding pressure vessels and boilers safety is also very close to the US standards defined by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

This enables most international inspection agencies to provide both verification and certification services to assess compliance to the different pressure equipment directives.

This diagram guidelines and references to the relationship PS (safety pressure in bar) and DN (nominal diameter in mm) for pipes containing fluids under pressure in Group II, No dangerous gases.

PED - FORM "A" V. Annex III Internal production control.

1. On 29/05/2002 the European Parliament Directive 97/23/EC (PED) on the Essential Safety Requirements (RES) of the pressure equipment has become the law of the State (see Official Gazette No. 91, 18/04 / 2000).

2. The pipes, joints and fittings THESEUS Ltd PED because they are exempt from individual components (Art.1 point 2 / c and Guideline 1 / 9).

3. THESEUS When components are assembled to make a facility or "together" to distribute a fluid having the following characteristics: * Compressed air: Not hazardous gaseous fluid = Group 2 (Art.9 point 2 / b).
* PS safety pressure of 15 bar max, * TS temperature from -20 ° C to 100 ° C,
we have the following two situations:
a) Up to 63 D, are exempt from the PED because PS x DN is less than 1000 (see tab. Art.3 point and 7 attached 1 / c).
b) D 80 and D 110 PS x DN have more than 1000, then fall into Category I and are subject to the assessment of conformity, a "Form A" (internal production control - see Annex III).

4. The term "ensemble" means a distribution system complete with compressor, tank, filters, valves and distribution lines (hoses, couplings, fittings, etc...) Art.1 see section 2.1.5. This assembly shall be subjected to a comprehensive procedure for assessing conformity. (See Art.10 paragraph 2 / f).

5. The components of a system are evaluated by reference to their integration in the highest category of workers (art. 10 section 6 / b).

6. Care must be taken to the tank because it is regulated by article 3 paragraph 1/ae so you can easily fall into Category II or better (in fact a small tank of 20 L to 15 bar is already in Cat . II, because PS x V is greater than 200).

7. The manager is one who "works" the whole (system), that the installer or end user (see Guideline 3 / 2). In other words, an installation created by the user under his responsibility is out of the PED, but only subject to compliance with the existing national legislation.

8. Given the complexity of the THESEUS is willing to help the installer or user to the drafting of technical documents needed to prepare the statement of compliance and applying the label "C E" to your system.
